They've got to be warning for straight line wind now, which makes their wording decisions even worse.

For anyone that wants to hear Reed make some noise I have never heard a human make as he was almost struck by lightning.

I made a similar sound a few years ago when I was standing on my porch when lightning struck just across the road. There was a flash, instant bang, and and I saw smoke. I screamed like a girl, high stepped it to the door, threw it open, and proceeded to knock half the shite off of a hall table deal by the door. A friend of mine was inside and said I was still screaming when I made it in and slammed the door. I'm surprised it didn't scare the shite out of me, literally.

Nothing like being on the edge of a tornado warning creeping your way and living in a radar dead zone

Turning into a straight line wind event, predominantly. Spin-ups will always be a chance with these, but high winds 60 mph+ can do just as much damage as a low-end tornado. They've already tornado warned entire swaths of the line with only very broad rotation showing, and I wouldn't be surprised if they do it again. Best bet, I guess, and it gets people's attention.

I have a 2 month old and this is my first time
Navigating one while considering his well being. Weighing whether to wake him and mom up and send to safe room or let them sleep, IF there’s rotation it SHOULD be a little to our south. That’s ignoring the straight line risk which is palpable but where they are sleeping there are no trees to fall on the house.

Hard to wake a soundly sleeping baby and a mom that needs as much rest as she can get

All of that and you may need a boat before it is over. There are some big totals in this line.

If it makes you feel better, they extended that warning into AL, and it is a Severe Storm Warning.

Definitely helps, also I happen to have a 40 foot boat about 5 miles from here so I could deal with that for a few days

I don't get their thought process on that warning. The tornado warning is active for another 7 minutes. I see the area they are concerned about, but it just made it into the polygon. There was no tornado warning behind it. So, their warning will expire with the circulation having spent very little time in the actual polygon.

And they must have just realized it because it was canceled early.

I wondered if it was right on the edge of being transferred between NWS Memphis and Huntsville and that might’ve caused the issue?

Anyways, it’s still raining but we are good. I’m very surprised by how little wind we actually had, strange. About half an inch of rain so far
