What makes you believe they didnt?
What will it take for yall to drop the possibilty of the families story being true?
The police releasing info to the media saying the attack happened for "no apparent reason" and "as red was walking down the street" hasnt convinced yall
So in seriousness, slack, tgrbait, and obtuse, is there anything at this point that will convince you?

You think it is naive because you are portraying the black criminal as a thug with no life, instead of as a black, well dressed graduate with a full time job.....
I contend that outside of friends/family, if an educated young black professional killed a poor, older white man in New Orleans at 1AM, it would be incredibly difficult to find someone (on this board) who wanted to wait until the facts came out at trial before wanting to lock up the black guy and throw away the key.
The class of the perp matters. The education of the perp matters. The criminal history matters. The race would very likely matter too, even if it takes a back seat to those other factors. You've been a member here for a long time. You know how these threads go.

Keep reading, I addressed that.

You are point blank saying that now
I actually disagree completely, and I find it sad you see the world that way honestly

do you remeber when Jefferson Parish said this?

When a white from a trashy background does something, this board fricking hammers them
I am sick and fricking tired of people acting like people are being judged on their skin color
Do some people straight judge on skin color? of course
But the heavy, heavy, heavy majority here, and in the real world, are making assumptions based on their dress, their class, their education, and their history.
This board wacks off to pictures of Ben Carson, and hammers guys like Chad Kelly and that little guy from Ole Miss

I think the family's story is a misunderstanding of 2nd hand information. I think Ward may have been in an altercation with a woman immediately prior to fighting/killing Red. I think Red was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and now he's dead.
I think witnesses may have seen the prior altercation and the fight, and they may have told Red's ex he was going to stop it, but who knows his real intentions? I think the detective probably told Red's ex something about the altercation prior to the fight with Red, and the ex thinks it corroborates the hero story she heard from the clerks.
If you want to change my mind, I need to read a report that says Ward had no prior altercation with a woman before the fight with Red.

the full sentence is life without parole
for manslaughter?
No, the facts as stated support 2nd degree MURDER

That will never happen. If it isnt in the police report, it didnt happen. They arent going to write down things in the reprot to ensure they didnt happen
"Ward did not argue with a woman"
"Ward did not kick a dog"
ETC ETC

You are saying that if only the race changed, than almost everyones opinions would change. That is you inferring race is the most important characteristic of the people involved, is it not?

The question the family is asking isn’t “how much time is he going to have to serve?”
Their question is “What can be done to prevent him from doing any prison time?” — and I think that’s what they’re trying to figure out while we’re all sitting here debating. Despite the notion that he quite possibly may have killed an innocent man, they are still going to do whatever they possibly can to get him out of it.
Because let’s be honest: this guy isn’t cut out for prison. Those of you who think he’s just gonna walk in and do his brief stint and then be on his merry way, are incredibly naive. He’s fricked no matter how you slice it.

Pride, I'm not calling any of this into question. I'm talking about the fringe, and I'm saying the fringe that would give a white guy the benefit of the doubt is substantially larger than the fringe that would give a black guy the benefit of the doubt, assuming all else was equal. That fringe may be relatively small, but it exists on this board.
