brought out 9pm

Thailand is 11 hours ahead of Eastern Time

That would be 2100 hours less 11 hours, so 10am EST tomorrow morning.

Maybe

I wonder what it was like in the cave before they got to the ledge they are on now.

How fast did the water rise? Did they have to suspensefuly get everyone through various small passages before the water filled up whatever chamber they were in?

I guess we won't know until this is all over.

I wish they would say where that base camp is within the cave that the boys have already gone past. I can’t find any info.

The governor just said that today is the best day to attempt the journey “because most of the path is walkable”.

I pray this is accurate.

It is but the part that isn’t is a 2 hr dive I think. By walkable I still think it’s neck deep water.

From the press conference it sound like the best of best in the world of cave diving showed up to help.

"Base Camp" might be the mass of mud where they were first found,

Then it rained, and they had to abandon it and go deeper into the system because that's where there was air and a shelf well enough know to have been named (Women's bumps) because it has lots and lots of bumps.

Outside the cave we've seen pictures of the reporters' area, of the rooms put up for the families to wait in, an area for praying, A medical area with enough beds for all the trapped children and the personnel brought in so that each child will have his own attendent group.

It seems the boys may not need to have dive at all, though this has not been 100% confirmed by officials. “Although there are some slightly difficult parts that we have to bend or crawl [in] we can say that we can just walk through,” Narongsak Osatanakorn, former governor of Chiang Rai province, who is heading up the rescue operation said of conditions in the cave. “We have done extremely well as yesterday we were able to reduce the water level by 30cm, the record of what we’ve achieved.”

There’s a diagram of the cave complex in this WSJ article that shows the rescuer’s Basecamp roughly midway through the tunnel system. I tried to post the pic but the text overlays didn’t come with it.

This is unbelievable. I’m so optimistic that they complete this mission with the already one casualty.

I do have 2 questions, do you think they began with the weakest or the strongest of the 13? Did they make the kids pass out first or are they awake during the rescue?

I need your WSJ sign in to read that article.

ETA Thanks for the screenshot!

I didn’t read all through the thread but was that mentioned by the rescue team?

It was mentioned by a former US Seal, on Fox, to save the kids.

I may be wrong. If I am, someone please correct me. But I’m pretty sure I read that several pages back.

Heard an old SEAL on Fox yesterday saying they’d have to give the kids sedatives, I guess to keep them from freaking out. He made it clear he wouldn’t want to do it.

Can they not light up the path or at least put some type of lights outlining the hole the kids would have to dive through. That seems like a much more sure fire way to have them execute these difficult passageways and would cause less panic.
