I’m at a VA right now. It’s sad as hell.

Ok tough guy. Obviously part of my post was hypothetical bc like I said, it will never happen. But, are you telling me if there was a way to all but eliminate gun violence or even decrease so much that you thought it was eliminated, but to get that you would not be able to own a gun and you would not be on board with that? You owning a gun is more important than the safety of your family, friends, and self? Mine? Wow
Hardcore drugs have been banned for 75 years. Have we seen an end to overdoses or drug related violence?
We can debate hypotheticals til we are blue in the face.
The fact remains there are literally millions of firearms in the US. You could ban automobiles easier than you could ban guns

Everyone working in the VA System is rejects.

But the problem is, who says it will eliminate the gun violence. You have to also understand that for as many that think guns should be eliminated for the safety of everyone, there are just as many who think they should have guns for protection and their own safety.
That is why I led with it's hypothetical and if we could end gun violence. That didn't work bc the literate of the OT only read gun control and yes and instantly responded with frick you which was a highly evolved answer...
I don't think it is possible, but if it were I would absolutely be for it.

Ok. What does that have to do with anything?

350 million guns are floating around the US
The toothpaste is out the tube. You either get yourself a gun and protect yourself or potentially fall victim to someone with a gun. It’s a sad reality and gun confiscation is completely out of the question.
Libs, “well we have to do something”? Yes, prepare ourselves to confront those who would harm us. Don’t ask us to give up our rights because there are bad people using guns. Trying to limit law abiding citizens access to weapons is illogical imo

Again, you never read my original post. I do not think it will happen, but to counter yours. Heroin became an epidemic in NYC in the 70's so they mandated possession of any amount a life sentence. Guess what, Heroin all but disappeared. But of course it was unfair and they redacted that mandatory sentence so we will never know. If you mandated a life sentence for possession of a firearm and held firm on that, gun violence would absolutely dissolve. It will never happen and none of those issues you listed above have improved bc the laws have no teeth.

Just stating a fact...
If it offends you that I stated the military branch the man was in then sorry, not sorry? People were talking about him being a vet but idk if he even finished his service in the Marines or saw combat? PTSD might not even apply here?

Gotcha, I thought it was in response to a point I made. No it doesn't offend me. But it does bother me that today's soldier can't take life after his entire unit kills 14 people when yesteryear's soldier saw on average 10x that and never came back from Europe or the Pac theater looking for a reason to go crazy and hurt people.

NBC just said white male. No name yet.
The last one was white as well. Race has little to do with targeting country music fans. Just a different type of separatist.

The shooter was basically a law abiding citizen. LEOs were called out for his erratic behavior 6 months ago, not because he had a criminal history.
The mental health "professionals" who were called out to the shooter's house are at fault for not digging deeper into this guy's situation.

The law strictly limits what they can do. If he's not an immediate threat, they can't him in. As a society, we've decided to err on the side of personal liberty.

I get what you're saying.
However, there have been 307 mass shootings in 2018.
It's not a responsible gun owner issue.
It's obviously a mental health issue and maybe rules on "psychiatric holds" need to be readdressed.
Recently there were shootings in a place of worship, a yoga studio, a bar, a school... Running out of places a person can be safe.

Marine Corps released a statement condemning him. They called him an "ex-Marine." Someone noted that the term "ex-Marine" implies he was dishonorably discharged.
Can any Marines confirm this terminology?

That's probably including all of the shootings in the hood where multiple people got shot. There's been over 100 of these in Chicago this year.

This is the worse mass shooting in this country in the last 11 days.
Think about that. We are off the rails. I don't have the answer(s) but I do know what we are or are not doing is not working.
