Broward County authorities Thursday arrested a Boynton Beach mother involved in a Palm Beach County court battle over whether to have her son circumcised.

Heather Hironimus, who has been in hiding for two months, was in custody and was being booked into the Broward County Jail, a jail employee said.

In March, Circuit Judge Jeffrey Gillen issued a warrant for Hironimus’ arrest after she failed to to appear in court with her 4-year-old son.

Hironimus, 31, and the child’s father, Dennis Nebus of Boca Raton, have been involved in a legal dispute over whether the child should be circumcised. Hironimus has said that she is opposed.

In February, Gillen signed an order for Hironimus to bring the boy to court and turn him over to Nebus. Gillen has given Nebus the authority have the circumcision done without Hironimus’ approval.

Through her attorney, she filed a lawsuit in federal court claiming the procedure would violate her son’s constitutional rights.

Hironimus reportedly agreed, as part of a 2012 paternity suit Nebus filed to establish his parental rights, that the boy could be circumcised as long as Nebus paid for it. She later said that she had second thoughts about it.

Probably one of the more normal things going on in Florida right now.

Last paragraph says it all. If mom agreed to it in writing, then we have no story here

I think the paragraph saying she has been in hiding with her son for two months says it all

We do have a story here. Regardless of both parents dumbass actions, there's a 4 year old boy facing circumcision. A kid that will forever remember this. A 4 year old that knows his anteater, not the altered version.

I'm a pro-circumcision guy, for kids at birth, not a 4 year old.

Yeah I'm not sure I'd do a circumcision for someone that old. You've already missed out on most of the medical benefits. Probably not worth it.

Dad apparently isn't jewish either, this is just to spite each other. Mother didn't have an issue with it and decided to be a bitch to the dad, Dad wanted to do it to piss off the Mom. These people shouldn't of had a kid.

Not sure what you mean by what most boys do. But I do know parents are opting not for circumcision more and more these days

Uh ok... I would have a little more sympathy for the Dad if he was Jewish and this was something religious he wanted to do. At 4 years old, the dad should just give it up. Most boys have this done at newborns when a lot of the arguable medical benefits come into play.

Really?

Why?

I have a 4 year old and it never occured to me to not do it.

Really curious

Edit: it was done when he was like 2 days old

No clue guess it's just the new age hippie parents.

But personally if my son was 4 and still not snipped then I wouldn't do it. 4 is too old. But that's just me.

Yeah at 4 i wouldnt

But the original issue was when he was born

Both parents need to let it go.

Although the mom is clearly nuts if she was in hiding

edit: nevermind, you agree 4 is too old. Newborns, I don't care about if you do it or not.

1946 when I was born they were not doing Circumcision and looks like it is going full circle. We had our son done at birth in 1978 because it was the in thing to do. Talking about 4 year old when I was in High School a guy had to be done because his fore skin tightened up and would not release so they did him and he thought he was dying.

Story sounds like a Greek tragedy:

"Hironimus was ordered to turn the boy over to Nebus..."

I have a very good friend that is a nurse practitioner at a NYC hospital ER. With their international population, he sees a lot of fudged up penises. It's not uncommon for him to do adult circumcisions.

If you aren't exactly a person that values cleaniness, it's definitely the way to go at newborn.
