Electricians, plumbers, welders, trades.
A degree is an excuse.
I was on a tour of a welding line, when a welder smarted off.
‘’Loan me your gloves and helmet. While going to school, I worked summers installing overhead cranes.”
I welded a complete transformer tank. Tested, no leaks. Gave the helmet and gloves back. We continued the tour. Know the trade.
Every manager, except for my boss, I had worked the field. I trained degrees engineers who had no clue about they were doing. Told him over lunch one day….we all went to school too, but we worked with our hands, I honestly see you as an office worker, while I handle the floor and my staff.
A damned robot will never handle what I do. Using 20 plus years of experience. Instead, we get girls afraid to get their hands dirty. And the question becomes “What are they supposed to do?”

Would you say the total job market for these careers could come close to replacing the jobs that will be lost?

Curious if AI is going to take over plumbers, welders, electricians, etc.

Considering a solid proportion of college graduates were getting degrees in near worthless professions anyway I'd say it's a wash.
How many sociology, psychology, art history, English, history, etc majors got into the barista route?
