I remember what that area was like before gentrification (and most of it still is that way). They didn't lose shite but cheap rent in crappy houses that couldn't pass inspection.

Sometimes gentrification doesn't work.

Isn't the 3rd Ward in Houston a major source of felons? So they would rather have a bunch of felons live there than upstanding people? frick it. Let them rot. If the fact that the people who are making the place better happen to white is a problem, then let them have their little paradise.

You know what they really want? Their own all-black paradise where everyone has money and everyone is black. They aren't interested integration. They may not call themselves this, but they are black separatists.

They still want white womenz doe.

I bet the irony of the rest of the article is lost on all of the citizens of that ward.

Go back and read the article again but replace the word "black" with "white" How would that article hold up?

Just read this fricking sentence:

quote:

When asked if he feels Third Ward is no longer a place he can call home, Holmes emphatically replies, “Well, hell yeah I do! It was safer when it was just us — we knew each other and we knew who our ‘outsiders’ were. We knew who to trust.”

If a white guy said that it sold be front page news and a nonstop story on CNN for a week.

I do love all the chrome addons that change words though.

My favorite one was one I had that changed the word white to Jew and the words black or african American to German, so the article reads like this:

quote:

Houstonian Rennette Brown Lucien remembers the area as a “pillar of economics,” but says that, in her 47 years, "I have seen this area come and go — it’s no longer a center for German economics because it is being jew-washed now.”

Well New Orleans used to be great until it got "black washed" with thugs and "white washed" by mayors who bow down to their bullshite. I may go buy a house in the Third Ward Houston just to piss this a-hole off.

Has anyone seen the "Zika testing area" signs in Nola?
I figure this offs to stop eddies from moving in. Lol
Reminds me of when farmers in Hutto,Tx would put up "future sight of pig farm" signs to stop developers from building subdivisions and trailer parks nearby.

What time frame were you thinking of with this opinion?

Actually the same thing from the OP has been happening in Nola for 10 years now. Whites are moving into the former ghettos buying house and restaurants/businesses and driving property values up. Almost every neighborhood has gone through this. Of course the usual suspects will open there mouth from time to time and complain that Nola is becoming too white and losing it's culture.
