From what I understand, they’re getting the export version (less armor protection) of the M1A1 which is the Abrams I served on over 30 years ago.
Do these have reactive armor? I would think they would at least help with the drones but idk.

The Abrams doesn’t have reactive armor. Reactive armor detonates when impacted by a projectile. Instead it has Chobham armor…
quote:
Chobham armour is the informal name of a composite armour developed in the 1960s at the Military Vehicles and Engineering Establishment, a British tank research centre on Chobham Lane in Chertsey. The name has since become the common generic term for composite ceramic vehicle armour. Other names informally given to Chobham armour include Burlington and Dorchester. Special armour is a broader informal term referring to any armour arrangement comprising sandwich reactive plates, including Chobham armour.
quote:
Due to the extreme hardness of the ceramics used, the tiles offer superior resistance against a shaped charge jet and they shatter kinetic energy penetrators (KE-penetrators). The (pulverised) ceramic also strongly abrades any penetrator. Against lighter projectiles, the hardness of the tiles causes a shatter gap effect: a higher velocity will, within a certain velocity range (the gap), not lead to a deeper penetration but destroy the projectile instead.[

Ukraine is the only country that regressed post Soviet Union they are never paying that back
Ukraine has been a puppet (through bribery and blackmail) of Russia for most of the time since the fall of the Soviet Union. Corrupt - no surprise, it's a feature of the Russian system. The country that's truly regressed since the break up of the Soviet Union is Russia. They had a chance at actual major reform in the 1990's. But Russia has never had anything other than authoritarian rule and they have slid back into pseudo Stalinism. Ukraine deserves a chance to break free from the crime family that is Russia. Go talk with people in Poland or Romania as I have.

in all fairness they don't have the skills or resources to do combined arms operations
This is the correct answer.

The Army operates different non-combat arms MOS schools at different bases. So, for example, if you join to be an MP, after basic training they’ll send you to Fort Leonard Wood for MP school, or Fort Bliss for medics school, etc.
Fort Lee for Quartermaster. That's where I went.

Russian literally hate the 90s because it was so badly governed Boris who just gave everything to the west to get into our good graces and allowed the oligarchs to take over and steal from the country. It was filled with crime and under development. The 90s Russia is why Putin is in power.
