I had watched until a little after midnight. You could easily notice the increased agitation by the police due to the fireworks. I had wondered how long they would hold off before moving forward because of the fireworks. Sad to read that 2(?) people have died. The police have warned the protesters to stay away because radicals on the protesters side might start using firearms. So basically the cops are telling them to get out of there because they have an excuse to use a lot more force.

The region being unstable argument aside, the protests in Ukraine have little or nothing to do with anything involving the Olympics correct? From what I've read, the main threats are Islamic groups looking to cause trouble which relates to their close proximity to Sochi.

correct, not related. but its all a sign of how unstable the region is as a whole and you would be stupid to go to the olympics.

thanks, just trying to get my facts straight on all of this. My knowledge of that area of the world and it's issues are almost nonexistent.
