By your logic the PPSH-41 was a knock off of the Thompson SMG (both had drum magazines). The M-16 is a knock off of the AK which is a knock off of the StG-44, which is a knock if of the BAR, which is a knock off of the Lee-Enfield ( all have enclosed magazines). And the SKS is a knock off of the Garand, which is a knock off of the M1903, which is a knock off of the Mauser*(they all use a clip)

But back in the real world, everyone knows that just because two weapons have the same style magazine, doesn't mean one is a knock-off of the other.

But none of that matters. Because the fact still stands that you were not trying to say anything about the magazines. You straight up said the Type 88 was a knock-off of the PP-19. You can crawfish all you want. But those were YOUR EXACT WORDS.

* the M1903 actually was a knock-off of the Mauser 1898. It was so close of a copy that Mauser filed a patient complaint against Springfield and made them pay royalties.

With so many different "Types" out there, I figured this one (with the tube) was called an 88 and referred to it as such.

Nowhere did I mean to say that the Type 88 battle rifle was a knock-off of the PP-19 SMG because no one would be that fricking stupid. I simply meant that it (the modded one) was an imitation of it.

They are very obviously different weapons. The Type 88 is clearly longer, has a visible gas tube, and a much larger ejection opening.

And that rifle is an imitation. But it's not an imitation or "knock-off" of a sub machine-gun that didn't even exist when it was designed. The Type 88 is a direct copy of the Soviet AK-74. Which the Type 88 has been around for almost 30 years now. I've always seen it with the standard banana magazine. Turns out the North Koreans have developed a tube magazine for it. I didn't know about this new development.
