That's the thing. The drivers are independent contractors under the law--not employees. The CA injunction is absurd.

I get that. It just seems like they should have far less expenses compared to, say, Target, which has to have physical stores, physical goods, real employees (not independent contractors), plus all of the corporate and office space, but Target has been profitable for years and years (maybe less so lately) while I’ve always heard that Uber is struggling just to survive.

Don't underestimate the legal costs and under the table costs of fighting the cab unions/owners.
