It still is. You or I or anyone with the knowledge/ability can start a site right now, and anyone in the world can access it.
Well that’s another lie bc we witnessed big tech collude to shut an extremely popular one down this year.

The right to have your overbearing government shut down private enterprise because boo-hoo I don't like what they do? They can have it.

Pretty sure he’s confused me for you lol. The other moron thought the Ron Wyden reference I made was contemporaneous, not a reference to 1996.

Lol
Losing immunity that other media platforms do not enjoy is not an indicator of an overbearing government.
It is a sign that the government is not tied to corporate interests and lays rights at the feet of their people and common interests.
If twitter wants to shut down because of it, then that is their choice. Not by force of government or by force of the people.

You can’t seem to understand that Section 230 was written with corporate interest in mind. That you thought the Wyden reference was to the contemporary landscape should maybe give you pause.

Well that’s another lie bc we witnessed big tech collude to shut an extremely popular one down this year.
The only reason it got "extremely popular" is thanks to these big tech companies that you hate so much. If not for google/apple/amazon/etc spending untold billions building their platforms, parler wouldn't have gone anywhere.
They could have done (and still can do) exactly the same thing that big tech did, and build out their own infrastructure to support their users. But as it turns out, providing a place for people to post whatever trash pops into their heads isn't all that profitable because no sane business wants to be associated with that. You can only sell so many pillows.
So then people who are way to the right like yourself look at capitalism's most massive successes and perceive a far left bias (because you are so far to the right, you see), and conclude that there must be some damn dirty collusion going on for things to turn out this way. You completely whiff on the obvious fact that you are in the minority of people who want to surround themselves with trash.
And you hate being a minority so much that you abandon small government principles and free market capitalism, and embrace big government authoritarianism.

India is forcing companies to censor content. Why any American would celebrate that and wish our government would do the same is beyond me.

So people invest a lot of money to start their own platform (which you claimed others can freely do and choose which sites to engage on) and when it becomes becomes hugely popular you think it’s thanks to those in big tech. Then your twisted mind claims it’s ok bc the 3 big techs are so huge it’s their right to collude to crush the alternative platform.
I assure you we are not the minority... We won in a huge fckg landslide but you Commie pos have to silence us to make yourselves feel as though you’re the majority in censored echo chambers.
If you think it’s trash you have the right to use other platforms just as we do you fascist pos.
ETA.... When companies have special privileges afforded by govt to shield them then that is NOT free enterprise. What a clown.

Sounds exactly like Facebook and Twitter, yet somehow they survived.

They censored any and all content about a worldwide pandemic that didn't agree with the WHO/CDC narrative. Much of that content has proven to be factually correct and promoted by WHO/CDC now that the dust has settled.
They banned a sitting president of the United States for a post telling people to go home from the Capitol on 1/6.
They have not banned multiple celebrities and politicians who called for the death of that same president or encouraged burning down cities and assaulting police.
If that is not bias then what exactly is it?

quote:I see that you misunderstand which platforms are in question here. Parler was removed from Google's Play Store platform for violating the terms of use, and it was removed from Apple's App Store platform for violating their terms of use, and Amazon stopped hosting their content because they violated their AWS platform terms of service. These are three massive platforms that took decades and billions of dollars to build, and nobody has a right to use them unless they abide by the terms they agreed to with the owners of said platforms. That's property rights and the right to contract. Pure freedom.
and when it comes becomes hugely popular you think it’s thanks to those in big tech.
If Parler doesn't like the rules, then they need to build their own infrastructure so they can make their own rules. They are free to do so.
quote:
Then your twisted mind claims it’s ok bc the 3 big techs are so huge it’s their right to collide to crush the alternative platform.
You have either completely misunderstood or are completely misrepresenting what I've said. First this whole "collusion" thing is hilarious. Keep it up. Second, they don't have any special rights due to their size, they just have the same property rights as everyone else.

I assure you we are not the minority... We won in a huge fckg landslide but you Commie pos have to silence us to make yourselves feel as though you’re the majority in censored echo chambers.
Republicans have won the popular vote in exactly 1 presidential election in the last 3 decades, and that only happened because W was still riding high post-9/11. Get your head out of your arse, and get your arse out of the echo chamber you live in.
quote:I do. Why don't you take your own advice, dipshit? There are numerous sites and networks that might suit you. You could try 4chan, they don't do much censoring. There are twitter clones like Mastodon, it's decentralized and federated so you can even run and moderate your own server as part of the network. Nobody will stop you. There are numerous youtube alternatives.
If you think it’s trash you have the right to use other platforms just as we do
