They should make a movie about all of us.

It is very strange to me that you are fascinated by these people.

Get out among the people. Get a job at Wal Mart or your beloved TimeSaver instead of just shopping there. The stories on Jasper Mall are no more or less fascinating than the stories of any group of people.

You have certain talents---use those talents find something productive that actually contributes to society and the economy to do. Your days as a street car operator were more important to the community you love than the time you took to travel to Jasper, Alabama, make the pictures and post a thread on TD.

I’m sure that Mozart, Picasso, and Mark Twain were all told they are wasting their time and to do something more beneficial to society. Lucky for all of us that they remained steadfast in dedication to their craft. Telling TulaneLSU that he should go back to driving the streetcar would be like telling Pat Mahomes he should have stuck with baseball. If you can’t find at least a little bit of cultural enrichment from a TulaneLSU thread, it says more about you than him.

Please make it staggeringly beautiful Jasper, Canada rather than some run down, decrepit small town.

Friend,

Your posting game, while always formidable, has recently reached new heights. Ms. Dash's performance was wonderful to behold. This most recent epistle from Jasper was a delight to consume. Many thanks to you for the considerable effort it you took to compose it and post it here.

Many items from Jasper, AL sadden a sensitive reader, this one in particular had that effect on me:

Not "the" Desperation Church, only "Desperation Church"

I fortunately cannot ever truly remember being desperate in my life. I must thank my late parents for this fact to some large degree. I hope the same has been true for you.

Have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving in the panhandle. While there keep out a sharp and unceasing lookout for Florida Man or Woman at all times. They don't keep regular office hours. It is part of their particular charm.

I remain a fan and your humble correspondent,

crazy that as good as cameras have become they cant come close to capturing what the human eye can. truly remarkable how sophisticated and advanced the human body is.

All made their living with their talents.

Cultural enrichment from Jasper Mall? or the ten best TimeSavers?

It is fitting that you mentioned a man, Mahomes, who used his talents to advance in life. The analogy would be more fitting if Mahomes wasted his time on the mundane while not developing the tremendous talent he has.

TulaneLSU has talent he is wasting. His contributions to society as a street car operator were much more important than his top ten signs in Jasper Alabama. He can do much more than he is doing.

Give me a break.

The man is being supported by somebody's work and efforts. He is fascinated by the mundane and appears to abhor the industrious. Despite his wide travels he gives me the impression he is very sheltered from the every man on the street.

How about the Top Ten ships to dock in the Port of New Orleans? the top ten hardest jobs in New Orleans? the top ten improvements over 1980 in any facade of New Orleans life? the top ten business owners on Magazine Street?

He celebrates the failures and ignores the accomplishments in our society.

The man watched a movie about a mall, drove to Jasper Alabama, made pictures and then made an elaborate post on TD about the entire affair.

Art doesn't need to be an exact knock-off of an image.

Lighten up, Francis.

Or, he gave us a virtual tour of a part of Alabama that I will almost certainly never visit in person. I would also add that focusing solely on the subject of his threads is missing the forest for the trees. Like the other greats, he uses such times and places allegorically. In this case, he makes the sad state of the Jasper Mall a commentary on the economical, communal, and most importantly spiritual decline of a small Alabama town.

I will reiterate, to claim his threads do not provide cultural supplication is an indictment of your own inquisitiveness, not of his.

All I am trying to do is to encourage him to do more with his talents.

How much boredom does one have in their life if a trip to Jasper Alabama is significant?

Maybe he should expand his top ten list thing to a website of his own--use his family money to promote it and hire other contributors ect. We could all subscribe. That would be an example of better uses of his talents.

I have gotten absolutely trashed at that Garfield's. Other than that, Jasper is a miserable shite hole of a town.

Friend,

May we all give thanks on this day that God hears both the cries of the desperate and the gratitude of the filled. May our abundance be met with a call to serve those who are desperate and need the love and healing of Christ, most especially those under the scourge of drink and drug.

Thank you as always for the kind words, all my dear friends.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Mother, TulaneLSU. I am thankful for the painstaking work and storytelling that you infuse into each of your top 10 lists. I am hoping to receive a copy of TulaneLSU’s Advent Journey as a Christmas gift this year. Have a wonderful day, sir.

Friend,

A happy Thanksgiving to you. I am most concerned today as one of our family members east of Destin with whom we shared an outdoor and socially distanced meal is presumably Covid positive. Please keep Mother in your prayers. As for the book, the publisher is having difficulties with the printing at this time. I will do my best to get copies to good friends like you.

Yours,
TulaneLSU
