Mayor Ben Zahn preparing his lines for the toast to the Queen of Isis, a most unfortunate name in current circumstances.

I walked down the street with my family. Around 7:45, the parade still hasn’t gotten to us yet. Now it seems like it was because of the toast crap. My kids are young. We had to leave before any of the bands and floats arrived. What a shame.

Great post TulaneLSU. You are an OT treasure.
From your description of Isis, it sounds like it had a similar vibe to the Mobile parades. People here shite on Mobile Mardi Gras but in reality it's smaller scale parades without the massive alcohol consumption and with a more family friendly atmosphere like what you describe here.
This is the main reason New Orleans parades are unsafe and unfit for children. Alcohol brings out the worst in people, you see it time and again. Fights, people getting injured, accidents like falling off balconies, and all of the fatalities these past seasons all attributable to alcohol.
You hit the nail on the head.

It's time we put an end to public alcohol consumption. When a city's leadership and royalty drink alcohol in public, what type of message does that send to both adults and children alike?

Mobile is horrible. Little Rascals is better than the best of Mobile’s Mardi Gras.

Well he's better than Bennetti and Donna Reynaud and whatever other nutty characters ran for mayor.

Looks like every councilman and parish rep toasted.
The toasting should be at the beginning I think.
