you can definitely check bags at the international terminal regardless of what type of flight you are on. i do this for every flight and never wait more than 5 minutes in precheck.

my issues is when i come home. your bags will go to the domestic baggage claim, so if you parked in the intl deck then you have to take a shuttle from domestic to intl, and they usually only have one van going back and forth so it can be slow.
