How old is he?

I’m asking this because he research shows millennials are taking less pay for more flexibility in their jobs. As a millennial myself, this is a no brainer to me and I would keep the job with the flexibility. However, since he is becoming stagnant in his job, he needs to start looking for another job which will fit his needs. Don’t settle on a new job for money because you won’t be happy. Speaking from experience.

We can make a speculative life decision for him, but we don’t know anything about him. Tell him to make his decision and live with it

I wouldn't go for the money - at least not in a job that seems like it would upset his lifestyle that much. Seems like he could go option 3 or option 1 and look around to see if something else may be better.

No way I would leave a stress free job for one with 24/7 call for only $10k more.

Never bank on a bonus, so that part doesn't even factor in for me. A lot of companies put that in an offer but don't explain all of the caveats involved in getting anywhere close to the amount they mention is possible.

My rule of thumb is 20% increase in salary to leave a job you like, and that's only for another similar job. To go from no call to 24/7 call I wouldn't even think about it for less than a 35%+ pay increase.

Option 4 - negotiate with the new company for a higher salary.

Ya bonus "potential" can sometimes lead to no bonus, dealt with that over Christmas and then a few other bullshite decisions by my company have me interviewing elsewhere.

I didn't read the whole thing, but 10% is not much to try balancing out substantially more pressure and being on call all of the time.

How confident is “he” in the 12% bonus potential because $10k per year ain’t worth all that shite. After taxes what are we talking an extra $600 per month to be in call 24/7?

Hell no.

This. Not worth it.

10k isn't a life changing salary increase. Add up all of the added stress, travel and time away from family and I would find it hard to justify giving up a cushy job for what your describing.

10k isn't enough money to get me to jump ship assuming I'm happy where I am.

20k, id say let's at least talk.
10k isn't enough to have an affect on my lifestyle
