I think the whole thing is stupid, but look at These time stamps
Nobody knew what this storm was doing. What’s the big gotcha here? Bad as it is lots of people dodged a bullet. Could have been even more catastrophic

The problem is he could have just admitted his mistake. Said "oops, Alabama was in the cone yesterday, here is the updated cone"
Instead he drew on a map with a marker to try to cover it up. I just do not understand why he did that lol

When he initially made the comment, the forecasts were all pretty much in agreement and the threat to Alabama was no longer in those forecasts.
