I really don't disagree with anything you said. My son played travel ball and I don't think he would've made his high school team had he not. Like you said, more reps makes a better player. The rec option is non-existent for anyone serious about the sport (at least it is in my area)

I just think that lots of grown ups involved in the travel model are much more focused on money than player improvement. recreational models had problems, but that wasn't one of them. but I'm past that season of life and really don't have any solutions
