You are correct and everyone investing in them knows this. It isn't a hard concept to understand. This guy is blaming E*TRADE which is hilarious and par for the course for Americans these days. He only wants to participate on the upside.
Also, when a company is sold after hours there isn't a stop that can be activated. There was no market for his shares except for a huge loss. E*TRADE cannot just unwind his investment at some fictitious market price.

Frickin oil futures busted my arse this morning, dropping below $40 when I was expecting a bounce.
