re: Toyota Tundra vs F150

Toyota's V8 is called iForce. Ram V8 is Hemi. The Toyota V8 is a 5.7, but it's a dual overhead cam motor whereas the Hemi is a pushrod single cam motor. Hemi gets it's name from the hemispherical combustion chambers. Other brands have them too, I think a lot of import 4 cylinder motors have hemispherical heads. Dodge/Ram just has the name notoriety.

My opinion only:
Tundra
Pros- holds value somehow, actual grown man motor
Cons- ugly inside and out, more recalls than any other vehicle on the road, expensive labor at the dealership bc everything is hard to get to, adding to the labor hours.
F150
Pros- much better looking, more roomy, better ride
Cons- Ecoboost

It is ugly. That's not arguable.
So far as recalls go, I think Toyota just likes to do a lot of recalls for every little nitpicky thing. I have an '08 (made in '07) and haven't ever taken it in for a single recall. I've had no problems.
Who cares what labor at the dealership costs if it never breaks? I've never had a single engine repair in 10 years of owning a Tundra. Aside from the oil and the oil filter every 10k, I've replaced the tires, all 4 rotors, break pads 2x, the belt when it started to squeak a year ago (did it myself, not hard) and the battery (the original lasted 7 years), which I also did myself. It could cost $1,000,000 to do engine work on them and it wouldn't matter because they don't ever need engine work. The Aisin tranny is WAY overbuilt and so is the Hino rear end, so those pretty much aren't ever failure points for owners.

Tundras have the cheapest shittiest interior of all the major truck brands but I have not heard any horror stories about the drivetrain.
Cheapest, shittiest interior, worst electronics, lacks remote start, push button start, LED headlights on any trim, and on and on.
But the drivetrain is invincible.

About as dated as a hemi, might as well be the same
Nah, they're the about same age, but the iForce was ahead of its time whereas the Hemi was not even of its own time. The iForce is an all aluminum DOHC motor with dual VVT-i. The Hemi is an oldschool pushrod. Hemi is just a marketing gimmick - it's cylinder heads aren't even truly hemispherical. It's a semi-hemi, just like almost all modern engines. Chevy, Ford, Nissan and Toyota are as much "hemis" as the Ram is.

There may be problems with Chrysler's 5.7L engines, but that is definitely not one of them.

Man up... Quit being a pussy, and get the F-250 with the 6.7L diesel.

So are GM small block V8's and they can flow. The Hemi heads were designed to flow too and they do it very well. You might want to actually do some research on this stuff, you don't seem to know what you are talking about.

I am actually shopping for a truck now (I have a 2010 F150 FX4 and really love it) but I am looking hard at those new Titans. They have much of the interior features as the F150 and a Cummings.

I have so much wood now.

I'm looking also and down to ford n titan xd. I find the ride in the xd is better than the ford but the interior of the ford blows the titan out the water....not that the titan is bad.
Posted on 2/5/17 at 9:26 pm to slapahoe
Ah...I haven't driven the Titan yet.
Posted on 2/5/17 at 9:51 pm to ehidal1
I test drove the xd diesel.....its an amazing machine. if the interior could be a tad bit closer to the ford id already own the xd

Posted on 2/5/17 at 10:13 pm to LSU1018

This F-150 V6 says hi
Never met someone in person who drives/drove an ecoboost and didn't have problems with it - aside from people on this site who seem to state it every time this thread comes up.
There's not a V8 offered in the F150? Even if it's not as peppy I'd rather a V8 over a turbo V6.

The new Titan is one of the ugliest front ends on any truck ever made. Also, do some research....there isn't much benefit at all when going with the diesel. Less payload for 1k more towing capacity, but costs $5k more
Am I the only one who hates when people spell it Cummings? That's some backwoods hillbilly cousin fricking way of saying Cummins
