The V8 isn't going anywhere until the segment of buyers that insist on having a V8 dies off IMO.
Well, I assume all of that talk is around the CAFE standards because the 6 is more fuel efficient. Not as much as they claim, but still better than the V8.

It will still be a mainstream option. Look at the number of people in this thread that are anti turbo 6s. There is a massive group of buyers that still feel that way, and they aren't going anywhere.
IF GM can meet CAFE standards while making their trucks without even offering a turbo 6 option, Ford can keep the 5.0 as an everyday option.

5.0 doesn't really get that bad of gas mileage at all. Drove one for a day while I was getting my oil changed and it was around 19-21 and I wasn't being easy on it.

I get 16.2 MPG hwy and 14 in town w/ a 6.2. I bought a truck knowing I would get shite gas mileage.

Also a good chance CAFE standards will be made more reasonable under the current administration. It would be foolish to get rid of the V8s at this point. They aren't going anywhere.
You might be able to get the V8 buyer into a diesel, but turbocharged V6 or I-4 motors are rightfully met with durability concerns, especially as buyers put more miles on their vehicles these days.

I don't get great mileage on my 5.0, Probably about 17 on average. Not bad, but my old Silverado with the 5.3 was about 16, so it's not much different.
Like I said, the salesman did say that Ford was considering abandoning the V8, and probably still is, but you are right, with the questions around the long term reliability of the ecoboost, they can't really go down that road.

It's made in Texas by Americans. I'm not arguing that Toyota isn't Japanese.
Is it just assembled in Texas, or are all/some of the parts manufactured in America as well?

We didn't know you were in Colorado. You've never mentioned it before.
We are your superiors in every way possible, so you should listen when I say Tundra > Ford

All manufacturers use parts manufactured outside the US. This isn't unique to Toyota.

I didn't say it was unique. I asked a simple question of made vs assembled?
