I checked Causeway restrictions before leaving for my commute home tonight (around 8:15). Typical weather restrictions - no motorcycles, 18 wheelers, etc.
InB4 y'all call me a p*ssy scared of driving in the rain.
A few minutes after entering the bridge, I was in a dangerous situation. The rain was so intense, I couldn't see crossovers well enough to pull over. Could not see other vehicles in front of or behind me. Wind gusts kept smacking and rocking my car. I've been driving the Causeway for years in all kinds of weather; this wind was scary. Sounds crazy, but I think I caught hail for a few seconds. The driving rain and thunder were so loud it was hard to tell, I'm not sure until I check for dents tomorrow.
When I finally reached northshore, a small section of Causeway blvd immediately past the toll plaza was flooding. It was raining so hard, didn't even see it before driving in at 35 mph. Almost lost control of my vehicle.
I pulled over and called Causeway police to notify them of the little flood. They told me the bridge had already "done-been" closed both ways. When I got home I got email notification the bridge was now reopened.
The website shows it was re-opened but the closure was never published.
TL,DR - I got on the Causeway when it was closed, the closure was never enforced or posted, and my $2 toll increase better improve keeping people from crossing when it "done-been" closed.

Was finally able to fly to Lafayette from Houston around 10PM last night. It was a rough ride!
