I felt homesick during the first couple of nights both times I moved away to school. After that, I never looked back.

I can see where one would feel bored/lonely during intersession and summer terms in a college town, though.

There's definitely a different atmosphere.
Probably because Christmas break is traditionally centered around family while summer is usually filled with partying and vacations.

It's like the mood you have leaving a concert vs leaving church.

...Just wanted to come out of lurking to say that you're not the only one that feels like this. I'm extremely close to my family and have been feeling the same way recently. It'll get better, though.
