If you can see your slab all the way around your house get some Taurus SC and spray it every 3 months or so around the perimeter. If you can’t see you slab (bricks all the way in the ground) for sure get a contract through someone.

The only lasting termite chemical I have found is termadore by Basf. good for ground and dry wood bugs. Supposed to last for 15 years. If you find a wall infestation, drill holes in wall and inject basf stuff with a turkey baster. Contaminated bugs will go back to nest and pollute/kill the nest.

Permythians , I use to treat the house twice a year, for all bugs including termites.

Now if you can get DDT at a garage sale that is the primo insecticide.

Tenting is worthless a week after treatment as other bugs fly in

Pile up some untreated wood as far away from your home as possible to lure the termites away.

I enjoy peace of mind. Our house is over 100 years old and had old termite damage that had been repaired and dealt with when we moved in. We have an extensive termite bait system around the house and we pay 350 a year to service it which includes an inspection. I also have read about more termite activity in Louisiana recently I feel like.

This is not correct, at least not in LA. I'm not questioning your memory, just the fact that mortgage companies require termite contracts. They don't.

May be a market based thing but both times I bought houses I had to have a Termite treatment certificate and a contract but not termite insurance. This was by my lender.

My daughter bought a house in Bham a couple yrs ago and had to do the same.

I paid my house off 20 yrs ago and still carry termite protection with insurance. I have found termite activity 3 times so far.

no you had to have a wood destroying insect report, or a "termite inspection".... lenders require that a WDIR is done to assess the situation and gauge possible signs of damage, but they don't require you to actually have pest control contracts in order to secure the funding when buying a house...

so, the inspection, and ONLY the inspection, is what is required by lenders to buy a home
