And if history tells us anything it will have almost 0 impact on how normal people dress themselves. These have always been fashion show things and only worn by a few odd ball celebrities. OP is acting like we should expect to see this in our daily lives. We don't and likely never will.
I remember watching Marilyn Manson perform on MTV Music Awards back in the 90's and there were 100 gay guys dressed in pink police swat gear grinding each other on stage.
Every generation has people that are odd as frick.

Just a reminder that RuPaul can be credited for making trans and cross-dressing mainstream.
Which generation does RuPaul belong to?

Ozzy Osbourne

Not at Grammy's but performed Satan stuff on stage to millions.
I was there for all of that, and saw Ozzy in concert in the early 80’s, with BOC who you fail to mention, as well as others. There was nothing any of them did on stage to closely resemble what we saw represented mainstream at the Grammys. I’m certainly not glossing over the devilish undertones of Ozzy, or even Cooper’s flirtation with it, or Zeppelin’s occultism. I renounce all of it for what it is, but still, nothing remotely close to what was done at the Grammys, and certainly not to a nationally televised audience. That was sick, and indicative of a very lost generation, and a generation that is being shown what’s behind all of it, but still fails to be awoken, rather excuse it. The veil is down and still it’s excused. That in and of itself is indicative of a people who’ve blinded themselves.

We've always had the homos.
But, at least Elton, Bowie, Mercury, and the others were actually good musicians, songwriters and performers.

I’m guessing people had the same reaction 40 years ago when these guys became famous.
This happens every. single. generation. We’ll be fine.

I honestly can’t tell a difference between some of these and what Joe burrow wears.

Mainly girl stuff. Women were the strength behind glam metal. They used to dance to that crap at the club in the day.
When rock music became introspective, women flocked to hip hop.

They generally were trashed by everone older than 16.

This entire generation bases satisfaction on attention. As a celebrity, he/her really doesn’t surprise me going with the most outrageous approach to fashion and performance. Conservatives and their outrage are just furthering the cause.

Fixed it for you. 40 years ago KISS stripped off the makeup and Frehley and Criss had already left the band.
Some of you really shave off a good decade when remembering things.
