Scan facebook or craigslist. Sometimes you can find a used analog/direct drive on the cheap because somebody wants a shiny new front loader.I just bought a new to me whirlpool washer for $100 and it's a champ. It doesn't have the newer energy efficient regs either.

Found a small mom and pop shop that sold Speed Queen locally and just bought one. Hopefully this will be my last washer purchase for at least 20 years.
