The outbreak was made famous by James Spann's coverage of the Tuscaloosa F4 that impacted the neighborhood of Bear Creek on December 16, 2000. It was among the first tornadoes to be shown on live television in the state of Alabama.

The outbreak was also famous for the below photograph captured by Michael E. Palmer showing an unconscious six-year-old girl named Whitney Crowder being carried out of the wreckage of her home in Bear Creek.

My ex wife was pregnant with our first child. I remember taking a mattress to the basement to cover her in our “tornado room”

I'll take "things I don't miss about living in Alabama for $800 Alex"

The 1989 F4/F5 in Huntsville almost cost me my grandmother.
