Sometimes people like to have a few swigs before they jump.

I was actually in 1st Coscom. 90-92. We were across post from the 82nd. There was one airborne squad in my company. We were tasked out to anyone that needed support. We got to do a lot of cool stuff.

Recognize those barracks well, just off of Watson Street. My first assignment at Fort Bragg was with 44th MEDCOM (28th CSH). We were over there with you on the other side of Bragg Boulevard. The 28th CSH headquarters was in one of the (later demolished) World War II era barracks.

due to misrouting it under a limb or your pack tray, etc. That was some of the worst static line jumping I have ever seen.

Or the rigger could use 120 lb line instead of 80 lb and the girl is so light the temp tie doesn't break, just beats her along side the jet for 15-20 seconds...

That'd be horrible.

I keep waiting for Lake boy to post a Pic of his Cub Scout uniform. Probably as far as he ever got wearing a uniform.

Yikes (but true).

Watched a tiny (female) jumper just hang in the air over Sicily drop zone for (seemingly) minutes after we had already landed and began moving to the parachute turn in point. Thought for sure she was going to be blown into the trees.

You are absolutely correct. My barracks was on Goldberg. All of our support buildings were the old WW2 buildings across the street. All of that stuff is gone now. I went back a few years ago and couldn’t even find my way around post. Everything had changed so much I didn’t recognize anything.

Come up on the net when you come this way. Would consider it an honor to hang out.

Last time I was on that side of Bragg Boulevard was when USARC and FORSCOM first moved from Atlanta to Fort Bragg (2010). I was part of the advanced party. They were initially set up in a newly built warehouse over there (near the fairgrounds). I have not been over there since they closed Bragg Boulevard. I would not be able to find my way around either.

Same.

I'm hoping we're going to head to the Keys for a bit. Would definitely be stopping your way.

We are here in the Bradenton/Sarasota area. But I would gladly make a day trip to meet you and the Mrs.

How’d you miss going to Iraq and retire as a Col?

As a senior field grade officer it is all about being assigned to a specific unit. As a 70H it would have required being an S3 or XO for a medical brigade or assigned to a corps or higher staff. Very few opportunities for either.

The Army has low standards

In all seriousness, I was a resident Army War College graduate and CSL for LTC command (x1). In my AOC they were both critical for promotion. Made me much more competitive compared to my peers.
