I thought i read they had an issue with the ballast and was descending too quickly. Then comms went out . I haven't kept up with this like most of you all though.

James Cameron, Oceanographer, and director of the Titanic movie had a really interesting interview with ABC. He is basically one of the godfathers of deep sea submersibles. He pointed out many times that this sub was not certified by any safety standards. He said many of the top players in the deep sea engineering world all wrote letters to this company that they should stop what they are doing immediately and that sub was way too experimental to be doing dives that deep, especially with passengers.
