Ok, be good looking....and let a group of women sort of pick up on you, then converse your way in...worked for me in the past more than once...oh and don't forget the highschool boy technique....make her feel like she's worth a million dollars and that you're genuinely the guy who will always treat her as such.

You going out to lay pipe or you going out for circle jerks? If you want circle jerks and regular bar attendees for your night of fun then go ahead to the bar where you can find an open chair at the bar and no crowd. If you want to plow a new field...go to ladies night or somewhere it's not so obvious you're alone at just a glance.

Find a place that has a table top video poker machine at the bar. Sit there and play all night. The girls love that sort of thing.

Go back to college. Go to Target. Get Tinder. Go to the farmer's market. Go to a bookstore. Go to a coffeehouse.

Also,
Carry a puppy with you everywhere.

Suck it up. No one cares if you're alone. Go watch the game somewhere.

Go to bars that have some kind of interactive activity where there's a good excuse to make conversation with total strangers without it being "weird". Open mic nights are pretty much made for this. While someone's performing, you can talk about them to the person sitting near you at the bar. When a performer comes off stage, you have an opening to talk to them in order to give them a compliment.

Wear a cape. It's a foolproof conversation starter.

Just start going to a local bar. You'll get to know the bartenders, bartenders will get to know you. You'll get more comfortable there.

Hunting is easier when you're a regular.

I travel out of town 4/5 nights a week, would much rather go out by myself.

Find nice, quiet bars and go to have a good time. Some times you meet people, some times you don’t.
