Policed for a decade - patrol, SRT (some agencies call it SWAT), field training, Spanish narcotic interdictions, tactical planning.

That became...untenable. So...

Then private sector for 6 years - project supervision, developing bids and quotes, construction, DEQ certs, shoring and excavation.

Associates in Safety Technology and about 3 semesters from a Bachelors in Business Administration.

Mid 30s.

I'm at 62 base and 600/month for vehicle expenses. The work doesn't thrill me and I want something that does but I can't take a step back in pay.

All the same shite as everyone - proficient in MS Suite, valid TWIC, DL, etc.

Is this as good as I can expect or could I do better? I've not been in a competitive job hunt for a while so I feel like a fish out of the water.

Large up-front investment if you want to do it right.

And shower rape. Big turn off.

Well you became a police officer since you weren't good enough to be a fireman, so that eliminates firefighter. Sales?

I think their pay will not be sufficient.

Yeah, but the hose-yankers call the boys in blue when they get in a bind.

You waited until mid 30s before worrying about sufficient pay

The end of my watch came abruptly. Public sector was no longer for me and so here I am. I'd have polices for minimum wage. I loved it.
