its the liberal equivalent of TD in that aspect..
That's another thing about Reddit that is just wrong. Political bans are extremely common on Reddit since the site is largely moderated by left wing people that don't value diversity of thought even though that diversity is what made the site attractive to so many posters to begin with. The areas of reddit that aren't an echo chamber are going to become echo chambers if they can't loosen that nonsense. That totalitarian censorship the big threat to Reddit's relevancy long term.
By contrast - bans are fairly rare on TD unless you post inappropriate material are actually threaten people. The moderators seem to value diversity of opinion a little more. I hope that never changes about this place.
If we can incrementally add new features (like DM functionality) and perhaps add boards that are geared towards younger posters (perhaps related to college/university topics outside athletics)......TD is going to be one of the long term survivors. A lot of younger posters will propagate from board to board just like everyone else does.

People without ties to the South don’t know this board exists.

As a frequent visitor to both, Reddit and TD are generally two sides of the same coin.
Both have their hiveminds who aren't interested in nuance all that much and just want their feelings validated by their respective peers as opposed to having a fluid open-minded conversation.

The irony of some of these comments in this thread is rich

Back to the OP. It already is a better version of reddit from a content perspective. It's easier to read too.

I’ve never been on Reddit.

Reddit is great if you stick to specific subreddits. Venture into the more mainstream subreddits and it’s a leftist echo chamber where even mild dissent is not tolerated.
And I think a lot of Reddit is bots.
TD is more local. Or at least most of us share a common background. And it’s ok to have a place like that.

That might be plenty enough.....if TD can keep bringing in younger posters.
It's highly SEC centric, which means it's highly relevant for topics in the southern US + Texas.

The layout/user interface of that website is about as bad as it could possibly be

theres definitely a lot of subreddits that will ban you for posting conservative ones.
They'll auto ban anyone who ever posted in a "bad" sub even if you never even opened their sub. It's mind boggling how sensitive they are about anyone different from themselves.

No one will be left to post after November unless Biden lets us have internet in the fema camp

Please don't become reddit
I don't go there much, but I have gotten banned from 3 different forums in the past two weeks for barely anything.

Saw a screenshot of a guy asking a moderator why he got suspended.
So they banned him for asking why.

TD should focus on expanding the SEC team forums. It's too hard to join them and that makes it difficult to grow.

Ehhhh look, TD is more tolerant than Reddit, but let’s not act like this is true, either.

That's part of what makes TD great, but also makes it feel like an echo chamber to outsiders. It's not because people get banned for sharing opinions that the mods don't like - that very rarely happens. It's because so many of us have a fairly common and relatable background. In some cases we know each other virtually and know each others hometowns intimately even if we don't know each others true identity (that blanket of anonymity is also what makes this place great).
I feel like I have a lot in common with most TD posters even though I don't know them personally. That's why I appreciate it so much. TD helped me stay grounded to my southern upbringing and values when I lived up north and worked overseas.
