Tibia plateau fracture

Anyone ever have this happen? Had an MRI done Friday and meeting with the doctor on Tuesday and got the MRI results today online. Results say grade 1 mcl sprain and a tibia plateau fracture or stress fracture.
Given it is a possible stress fracture, that leads me to believe it isn’t in pieces and won’t require surgery. Anybody ever had this and if so, what was the recommended treatment. Will see the doctor on Tuesday but am just trying to see how bad this is.

Meniscus sprain? Might want to read those results again
Plateau fracture, just depends

Probably won’t have to be amputated.

Done plenty of surgeries on tibial plateaus. Stress fracture is promising, but we are missing information here. Did this occur from an accute injury? Or, are you a runner? Or, are you overweight?
If this is a new injury, I'm sure you will be on crutches, non-weight bearing until it heals. The meniscus might require a cleanup though.
If you are overweight (not trying to offend you, but being straight forward), you might have developed this over time? This might require different course of care.
Based on your info provided, I'm guessing quick scope to clean up meniscus, then non-weightbearing on leg for 4-6 weeks.
Good luck!!

Right. I wasn't going to mention a cartilage sprain. Does not compute.
Likely, an mcl sprain, meniscus injury and plateau fx.

Edited. Thought it was the meniscus. My bad and thanks for catching that.

Not overweight at all, probably underweight, active peloton rider which is more than likely what caused this. Happened around 11/12, originally diagnosed as tendonitis. Just woke up the next day with it swollen like a balloon. Rested and 0 peloton since mid-Nov and rested it. Never healed and continues to hurt which led to the MRI and those were the results. Did say it was a non-displaced fracture which is a silver lining.

Grade 1mcl , probably do nothing
Non displaced plateau fracture? Prob just rest and time
Maybe an injection, maybe some NWB time on crutches, just depends on what the ortho sees on MRI

I broke mine, T shaped plate and 7 screws. 12 weeks on crutches. Had to go back in and remove shite because one of the screws broke. Fun times

Nondisplaced? Probably knee immobilizer and Non weight bearing for 8-12 weeks

If it's in pieces you do not need an MRI to tell you this. Compound fractures are obvious.

I hyperextended my knee while running full speed during intramural softball and had this injury. My femur came down and caused a depression fracture of my tibia. Luckily it was on a non weight bearing part of my knee and did not need surgery. Rest and crutches for 6 weeks and was good to go. It’s all about where the fracture is on the tibia and if it’s weight bearing or not.

Yup, was a compression fracture from soccer. Also tore my meniscus with it. Required surgery to repair the meniscus but the real pain in the arse was being on crutches for 12 weeks.

Updated - it is broken. Brace for 8 weeks but it is going to take 3-4 weeks to get the custom brace so “take it easy” until the brace comes in.

yes, had this fixed last year. I had a subchrondoplasty done. I was running again in about a month. I would do it again. Basically they drill into the fracture and inject a compound.

One of my kids got a lateral tibia plateau fracture along with a torn lateral meniscus during a soccer match. Still not sure of the mechanics of how it all happened. My kid didn’t need surgery, but was on crutches for a good while.
