Don't nurses work 13 hour shifts?

Touché. No, I get that this was regarding the "average" working man. Imagine pulling a 28hr rotation, trying to sleep through the next day, and then having 10-14hrs the following day.

13hrs is a drop in the bucket.

I'm aware of that. I was trying to edit before I saw your response, so I could substantiate my post.

I can tell you from experience that I can't do 4-10's. Sitting in an office all day that is just too much.

I work the 9-80's deal with every other Friday off for my last job.

Even when I am retired I will want to work 5 days a week. Not sitting in an office of course but I will be doing SOMETHING!

Not at all. I was just pointing out that some people have it much worse than 13hr days. I am not a physician.

No doubt it's tough, but just think when it's all said and done you get to make your own hours, hire your own nurses, and if you're smart and going into plastic surgery you will get to play with titties all day long.

Three 13's

I'd imagine your productivity would crumble. I've pounded out some long hours in the corporate grind...it's tough putting in quality hours while working that long. You almost get 10...maybe 11 solid hours and you waste around 2 or 3 hours rubbing your forehead and contemplating the workload.

Trapping 8 hours a day is exhausting.

We are trying to raise the overall quality of life for humans in this thread. You pointing out people with a low quality of life will only help our cause.

FWIW, I would take (4) 10's in a heartbeat.

For real I think 4 10's is ideal. You always have a 3 day weekend. I think anything past a 10 hour day is a little much depending on what you do.

This is the biggest concern. Mostly depending on the job. Research would have to be done to improve this.

I used to work 3 14's when I was a bartender and barback. Brutal workday, and I managed to spend all of my money in the 4 days off.

13's are pretty bad. Bar backed from 4PM to 5AM on weekends back in my early college years. Good money but my feet were absolutely fried after the weekend. Saved a lot of money working on weekends though!

It'd be cool to have 4/10's.
