Dabadie telling these people to STFU...primary reason why they had "excessive" gear. Due to credible threats to harm officers at a protest.

It's amazing reading some of the comments on fb saying this is BS and made up by the police to keep people scared from protesting. Zero logic in some people

After credible threats and the Dallas shooting I'm quite sure that all law enforcement departments were, and still are, on edge. I applaud those members of law enforcement who were in BR, showing great restraint in what could have developed into an ugly situation.

Hope for the best but prepare for the worst, which is what they did. So a small % of assholes got arrested, big deal. Maybe the cases will be thrown out but who gives a frick, it shut down any potential bullshite.

Seems like some in the national media are disappointed because they didn't get to see Baton Rouge burn in front of their cameras. frick those a-hole vultures.

Work in DC. Know most Chief of Polices in metro area. Firefighters now wear SWAT gear in first responder situations (FIRE and EMS integrated here).

I think the LEO were absolutely justified in the way they handled things and I would still feel this was the correct response even if officers hadn't been killed in Dallas. They work for us, the taxpayers and law-abiding citizens and it's their job to represent us in protecting life and property. It's a very dangerous job and I think they should be equipped in the best way possible.

The use of the term militarization of police is a phrase the sjws and liberals are using to try to scare people. And, since I'm not a thug, I'm not scared of the police.

Good grief, I was waiting for this one...

Nobody GAS about riot gear or even military weapons.

People do GAS when some podunk knucklehead Sheriff's Department in Little Rabbit, Alabama gets an MRAP.

Even getting it for "free" is ridiculous.

I could give you a Lear jet for free and you couldn't afford to keep it.

Kraska can EAD.

Last time I checked BR wasn't on fire.

BRPD moved up in my eyes.

I didn't see any military gear this weekend. I saw a BearCat which is totally suited for civilian law enforcement needs, some SWAT officers in tactical gear to provide cover in case something happened, and riot gear. Perhaps they think riot gear is military equipment but it won't stop a rifle round.

I think it sent a message that LEOs across South Louisiana weren't fricking around and really wanted the bullshite protests gone and done away with before they got out of hand. They weren't letting this become another Ferguson and Baltimore because they're not like the chicken shite pussies up north who allowed that. And they did it because they had the support of the higher ups all they way to the Governor and the people of Louisiana who don't want these protests here at all.

The majority of people being outraged about law enforcement response to BLM protests in Baton Rouge are people who don't live in Baton Rouge or even in Louisiana.

I think they did GREAT. I think the message they sent was clear, they were READY for whatever happened.

Thanking the LEO's in our communities for being there
