It looks effective. Honestly when I look on YouTube it seems those with Jiu Jitsu training are the ones who win fights. It just looks boring to me, though.
It's effective in 1-on-1 battles, but how many real life scenarios play out where you don't have outside interference?
Take someone to the ground when he has friends around and expect a boot to the head when you start winning.

Josh Mancuso's place
Where is this?
It's called JM Modern JJ located in BR
I grew up with Josh. He's a good dude and VERY dedicated to JJ. He competes quite a bit and seems like he's always travelling around to train under different people to up his game.
I think he's actually in Rome right now competing.

First thing is call them all and see which ones will give you a sticker for the back glass of your vehicle. Eliminate the ones that don't; then down-select from the remaining pool.

Josh Mancuso's place is the highest concentration of high level grapplers to be found in the BR area, by far. This isn't a knock against the other places around BR, it's just a fact. 3 BJJ black belts, 5+ brown, international sambo competitor, judo champions, etc.
They're a Soul Fighters affiliate so I believe you can go to any Soul Fighters gym anytime anywhere.
Then that speaks well for his school. There's a Soul Fighter affiliate here on the MS Gulf Coast I've spent time training at. When I return to training, it'll be back there. Only positives things to say (still wish they followed more of a curriculum like Saucer schools, though).

If you are strictly interested in BJJ the Josh Mancuso's gym is the place to go, there is also a kids program there. Josh is an active competitor all over the world and learns/teaches high level BJJ. Doug Fournet also trains there and is probably the most decorated Sambo/Judo competitor in Louisiana. If you want a place where you can workout, go to kickboxing classes, and do BJJ I would suggest UFC gym. However I have never trained at a GU gym, and there are several in the area.

I've got my 8 year old in wrestling at All Star Wrestling club on Airline. For $75 a year, you can get every Tuesday and Thursday. Jui Jitsu lessons for the kids became pretty expensive at the UFC.
As a big MMA fan, everyone needs to be well rounded with striking and grappling but I think wrestlers have the best foundation for physically dominating their opponents.

I just compiled a list of current UFC champions. Several of them were Division one college wrestlers (Miocic, Cormier, Woodley).
Stipe Miocic - Wrestler
Daniel Cormier - Wrestler
Bisping - Striker
Tyron Woodley - Wrestler
Conor McGregor - Striker
Jose Aldo - Jiu JItsu
Cody Garbrandt - Wrestler, Boxer
Demetrious Johnson - Wrestler
Clearly, everyone needs to be good enough at jiu jitsu to avoid being choked out.

there are no black belts there
There are black belts at other BR gyms though
But if you want the best in BR, come see us at JMModernJJ!!!
We have 3 resident black belts, like 9 brown belts, and a shite ton below that
Plus a number of judo black belts, 2 martial arts hall of famers, 1 UFC vet, 1 strike force vet, and a very good kids program and female program

JM Jiu Jitsu Instructors

Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and one of the first Louisiana MMA fighters to ever make it to the UFC. Kyle brings his knowledge of the fight game, as well as his passion for BJJ to this team. He has trained and cornered many of the best fighters in Louisiana and is still on the mats today due to his passion for the martial arts.

It is very applicable to realistic scenarios at that point.
Because you have to roll around with half naked men pretty often?

I train MMA in Lafayette at Gladiators academy and I love it. For BJJ in Baton Rouge I would go see Josh Mancuso.
