~40% of all prisoners are behind bars for reasons not related to public safety. It costs ~$31,000 per person per year to imprison someone. There are probably half a million people in jail for no good reason today. That's a lot of money.

Most of the prisoners in this jail are there for violent crimes. Very few are held there because of "victimless" crimes

I wonder how many children have been conceived in this jail? I bet the sewer pipe is full of AIDS and hepatitis.
