Which is the exact opposite of what we need. We need to reduce the size and scope of the federal government and return more power to the states.

Concur. But we also need limitations on the emergency powers of the executive branch of the state governments. It’s been six months, more than enough time for state legislatures to figure out a way forward. Ruling via executive order for this long is in my worldview tantamount to tyranny.
