Seriously the price of trucks these days are redicoulous. I really want a ford and dem bitches is expensive

Make sure they don't forget to give you the extra transmission. You'll need it sooner than you think

Ecodiesel has gotten really favorable reviews. It's a solid motor that's been around Europe for a while too. They rate them at 28 mpg hwy, but I've seen people report closer to the 30 in real world driving .
The transmission is a nonfactor. They use an 8 speed built by ZF and it's probably one the best truck transmissions on the market right now. Interiors are fine as well, go read any publication/review on the new Rams and they all rank the Ram interior up there with Ford.
All the trucks are the market right now are great...go drive them all. You need to make sure you can justify the diesel, bc it is a good bit more expensive. Think you can get a hemi w/ 8 speed for 2 or 3 grand less and the hemi is a bulletproof drivetrain.

when you buy a ram, you can expect the following right after it's out of factory warranty:
radio knob falls off
window motor quits
windshield wiper motor quits
seats break
etc..........
it's the little things that will piss you off when you guy one of these cheaply made rams. that's why they are so cheap.

As usual the idiots on the OT think Rams are shitty. Then again they are idiots.
I have a 2014 Ram 1500 Limited with the 5.7. It rides great, looks good, has one of the best interiors that I've seen and gets plenty of compliments. I don't know much about the diesel. I did talk to a guy that has one. He was getting 32mpg on the highway.
What trim level are you looking at?

None of that has happened on my 2011. Only issues I've had are:
- Defroster flap motor broke, fixed under warranty (it was a common issue that was recalled and addressed)
- Right horn went out bc I pressure washed the front of my truck and water seeped in
- My driver side door doesn't always unlock when I hit unlock on the key fob. That one is actually bugging me...but in the grand scheme of things, it's very minor.
Mechanically, truck is solid. 66,000 miles and counting.

in comparison to my 05 F150 with 100k miles:
I changed the brakes
I changed the tires

I changed the brakes
I changed the tires

I know a few people with that model F150 who have had serious issues with the 5.4. Great that you've had luck, but just bc you haven't had serious issues doesn't mean the F150 is some invincible tank.

A friend of a friend has one. He likes it as far as I know. He told me he was getting 28mpg.

I've owned Toyota, dodge, and Ford. The fords driver side window crapped out and the 4wd knob quit. They're all good trucks but shite happens.

You do know the one ton dodge trucks use a cummins engine that's only 6 cylinders right?

A guy I know got a 2015 GMC Canyon. It's a real nice truck.

One of my contractors bought one 6 months ago. He absolutely swears by it. My brother had one provided by his company. His only complaint, it was a little slow if you needed to punch it, which could make it difficult merging into Houston traffic.

08 4x4 Laramie, 50k miles, I am experiencing the window issue with my rear sliding and radio issues with my steering wheel controls, that's it so far though

I'm only stating that a truck shouldn't be measured by its number of cylinders
