If you don't like it you can just give it back

Why do you have to be a dick all of the time? I imagine it must be exhausting.

We did the adoption thing due to my wife not being able to conceive.
We had incredible luck. One of my wifes coworkers knew a girl that wasn't on drugs but was simply financially unable to handle another baby. She was offered and we took the chance.
At birth she was C sectioned out of the mother and handed directly to my wife.
Over 7 years later she's a doll and a blessing that we didn't really deserve.

I'd do it over in a heartbeat. The joy is often overwhelming.

There was a failed one prior to this one.

Yeah, I want to get a foster kid

OP I like that you're considering this route. I know it's not really the same, but I adopted a cat who was already five years old. They told me that so many people pass up on adult dogs and cats because they want kittens or puppies.

I would imagine foster kids are the same. A lot of people pass up older kids because they only want an infant. Either way, good on you and best of luck with whatever you decide

the older i get the more i think about adopting myself. the earth is overpopulated as is, why let kids who deserve a family grow up in an orphanage. plus, arent the odds of autism increased when a woman reaches 35? if true, this makes me very hesitant to have my own children. i mean i could always find a younger woman but then id have to deal with a younger woman. id rather be an autistic orphan than deal with that shite again

Watched several friends adopt, and IMO adoption agencies are one of the biggest scams in the world.

If I had to do it, I would put it out there that I was looking for an unwanted baby and then wait for a pregnant teen to come along, who doesn't want to be a mom but is uncomfortable with abortion. There are plenty.

It's just lawyers and politicians have realized how to make bank off of people who want to help. It's ridiculous how much it costs to give a kid a good home and how quickly they'll give them back to their shitty drug addict mom

As far as waiting for an unwanted pregnancy, it's a lot more rare these days because teen pregnancy rates are so low.

Your best option these days is embryo adoption IMO

I fully agree but private adoptions & adopting thru your state agencies is not the same HOWEVER I do know that some states charge a lot while others don't. If you want an infant going thru the state may not be the way to go bc there are so few infants available.

Is your spouse 100% on board with adopting?

Good friend of mine adopted a baby. They got lucky and basically had a pregnant mom willing to give up her baby fall in their lap(someone they knew at church knew someone....etc, etc). Still cost them over 10k in adoption fees, etc. Not to mention the birth mom wasn't sure who the father was(could have been 4 different men). So they had to place ads in the paper for so many months (legal requirement)and hold their breaths and just hope and pray some guy doesn't come along and say he is the father and wants his child.

Baby is like 18 months now....my friend wants to adopt again so the child has a sibling but her husband is saying hell no because he doesn't want to go through all of that again. She said besides the obvious costs, the whole process is emotionally and mentally exhausting. Said she could see it breaking a marriage apart.

You feel better now? It's the same principle. People don't want to adopt X because it's old, so X continuously gets passed up.

But if you're in Tampa I wouldn't expect you to know much about principles.

sounds terrible, but some do it for attention. when its obvious that the kid isnt american they have a great look at how great i am story.

i agree, there are too many kids here that would flourish in good homes and they get completely over looked.

I seriously doubt those couples spend all that money and time and go through all those hoops to have a "how great I am story".

International adoptions more likely guarantee the couple a child. No birth mom to change her mind at the last moment. Most of the international adoptions are children that are true orphans. Also...some couples that want to adopt feel they would be literally saving a child's life if they adopt a child from a third world country.

My wife and I tried for years and were not successful in having children. We then had the opportunity to adopt inner family as my wife's cousin was unable to care for the child (drugs and other issues). He was born 6 weeks early and was in the NICU for a little while. We took him home on Christmas day 2013. Official adoption was finalized 1/2016. We had a family lawyer that wrote up all of the papers. We couldn't be more thankful of how seamless the process was. Best thing that ever happened to us.

Because of that and not having all of the stress of trying to get pregnant, my wife is now 19 weeks.
