Why won't the SJW, BLM, "Alt-Left", Antifa ever address the issue that multiple freed blacks owned slaves? It is quite well known that many owned multiple slaves to work on and around their home and plantation. It isn't some hidden or unknown fact.

I'd simply like to hear a statement on them addressing the issue.

They have a huge Robert E Lee statue just like that in Uptown Dallas, and I am surprised there hasn't been any outrage here. Actually, I'm thankful.

In America today, we have selective historical rememberance. It's not PC to remember all of history.

While I disagree with the actions, a freed black owning slaves =/= a slave owner with a statue. That's an easy one to pick apart.

ETA - They're targeting memorials to slave owners. If a black slave owner has a statue, you'd have a better point.

Yeah, I hate when someone spray paints my horse's arse right before I head out.

Do you live in a hole? The Dallas mayor just formed a committee to basically take down those statues.

Is about to be gone. There was a rumor floating around yesterday that it had already been taken down. That statue won't make it to 2018 though.

It seems more likely to me that they're trying to erase a certain part of our history. So while yes, somebody having a statue of themselves isn't exactly the same as somebody just owning slaves, they're two sides of the same coin.

You do realize that "freed blacks" owned their own family members and purchased other blacks to keep families together and protect them, right?

Like I said, if you've got a black slave owner with a statue they're ignoring, let me know. Pointing out blacks owned slaves is a poor defense, much like pointing out Obama's flaws is a poor rationalization for Trump's actions. It is intellectually lazy.

Yes, now do you realize that freed blacks also owned black slaves to do actual slave work in much the same way white slave owners did?

I'm not saying I agree with the OP, i'm on Slackster's side stating that this point is not really relevant unless there is a statue out there of a black slave owner that they aren't trying to have come down. But what you said is something different and seemingly deflecting from the fact that there were black people who purchased and owned slaves, and not for just the noble reasons you mentioned.
