Where are you driving in from? Who are you going to have with you?

Nah, we want to get away from the normal Mardi Gras scene around here and use the time off to go check out some places around the state

Tickfaw is a good choice too

You want a cabin in Louisiana for the weekend of Mardi Gras? Are you looking to get away from it or be part of it?

Get away...go to the woods instead of the streets

You could check out Homochitto National Forest/Okhissa Lake around the Bude, MS area... it's only a short drive north of the Hammond area into Mississippi....they have camping and cabins.
Also, in the Robert, LA area between Hammond and Madisonville, there is a camp ground (just looked... it's called Hidden Oaks) and it is situated on the Tangipahoa river... what's really neat about this campground is the plethora of live Peacocks that wander around... they are majestic and are friendly.
You could try Grand Isle state park, but I've not camped there so I can't say anything about it, but others might.
Good luck.

State Parks - Lake Fausse Point and take swamp tour at McGees landing at Henderson. I don't think there are really any trails there. Chicot, but again, not sure about trails.
Fountainbleu has bike trail not sure about cabins though. Go to the Louisiana State Parks website and they list parks and amenities.
Best trails around here are at Tunica Falls at Pond, Mississippi, near St. Francissville. You'd have to find a bed and breakfast in St. Francisville for that.

Actually there is a camp ground at Tunica I stayed at a few months ago... it's awesome, they have tent sites and cabins. It's also close to clark creel natural area which has the waterfalls and creeks and is beautiful.
Where you turn right to go to clark creek (heading towards Angola), you make a left instead and that brings you to the Tunica camp ground.

Clark Creek/Tunica Hills which is at the Louisiana/MS border. An hour north of BR
Kisatchie is another option.

It's run by a lady and her family. She inherited 40 or so acres right there in the hills and turned it into a campground... they have nice triangular cabins for 40/night, or tent camp for cheaper. She takes you and your gear up to the site with a big atv/mule type ride... she has firewood for sale as well... it's a great spot in that it is so close to clark creek, where camping is not allowed.

Not in La, but here's what I would recommend...we have used this place a number of times for meetings, etc. It is by no means fancy, but it is spotlessly clean and has a damn good restaurant on site....
it will give you flashbacks of summer camp when you were in elementary school...
Lake Tiak O'Khata
