I remember my mom waiting for the bus with me for a week in middle school. She thought I was lying about the bus sometimes never coming or just driving by without stopping. She thought I was just being lazy and missing it by not being out of the house in time. Once she realized I wasn’t lying, she started taking me to school herself.

I don't remember how teams were picked but it was played in the gym(jhs,) each team would be at the baseline and all of the balls were set on the half court line, coach would blow the whistle and everyone would charge the line to try and pick up a ball, if you got hit you were out, it usually became a brutal bloodbath, all of the nerds and figs got creamed first just to make room on the court and then it got real ugly, I think the coaches loved watching that
Played that in Jr High in PE. We called it Battle Ball and used half deflated volleyballs. Loved playing that game.

My wife's mom would send her to town to the store to buy something she needed. It was 3 miles from the farm to town on back roads. 11 years old

Same here. She would give my brother and I a couple bucks for candy. Them was the days. Of course that's how I started smoking the first time. As I got older I would say they were for Grandma.
