High speed rail is not to help people spread out.

It wouldn't have an affect? Instead of living in the city itself people could move further out and still work in the city, correct?

High speed rail only works well between fairly closely spaced population centers.

Not even the government is going to spend $10 billion to run a high speed rail line to Bumfrick Nebraska.

Almost any commercial project with a GC is going to require documented workers. If it's a government project or a big CG is running it 100% will require documentation and background checks. Residential is different. That's where you're going to run into undocumented labor all the time. Documented as well but a ton of undocumented.

I work in large commercial construction, and this is not how it goes. GC's are not checking documentation for subcontractors' workers. Subcontractors can also sub out to "labor providers", and turn a blind eye to employee verification paperwork. This is how many large hotels/condos/office towers are built. Maybe not as much in northern or heavy union towns. If you don't believe me, go park yourself outside of a large construction project at 6am and see who goes in and out of the gates.

Government projects are a different story, but only certain contractors go after those projects as they require a different set of labor that can pass background checks.

Pay is 100% the issue for me. My favorite thing to do... that doesn't involve sex or food... is sawing trees and splitting firewood.
Is this me?

America has made weak mean. We know the cycle. But this current version of men is weak mentally as well. They think that work is beneath them. That’s why Latin Americans have no issue gobbling up those jobs.
