It “seems” like if someone made a thread about crime increasing, it wouldn’t be hard to find some kind evidence of this online to support his theory, rather than post what it “seems” like based on what they are watching on tv

It's not about crime in general. It's about his awe at how many people are capable of committing murder.

We are doing much better than we were from the 70s-90s, although we should definitely be working to get it trending back down

I know. But this is not about actual rates, rather the fact that so many are willing to kill.

Or building punishment facilities that specialize in psychological punishment, physical punishment, etc

Yeah Idk I’m not a psychologist but history and nature show it’s nothing even remotely new or uncommon

All homicides Number of deaths: 24,576

Recorded in 2020. So every 2.5 years the US murder count surpasses the total American death count in the Vietnam War.

Now that you have your figures, back to the original topic. How can there be so many murderers at any given point in time in this country alone?

Big reason I loved visiting Singapore. Ill gladly support the strict drug laws and weapons laws to walk around without any concern for safety 24/7.

Yep, people were terrible towards one another over the millenia. Unspeakable stuff used to occur in NYC during the 19th century. Child prostitution, enslavement, murder, just a disgusting miasma.

Lived in both the Middle East and Singapore. The absence of petty property crime and violent crime against people is pretty, pretty, pretty great.

The Broken Windows theory of policing is really complimented by the Broken Hands theory of justice.

Rap music. I think a lot these punks think this is real life. Some of these young guys are 130 lbs, when they walk in prison so tough and proud. Then reality sets in, I’m never gonna hold another woman, see my family, kids etc

Murder rate is currently half of what is was in 1980, and lower than it was in the early 60’s. That’s right, during the Gilligans Island days, the murder rate was substantially higher than today. Doesn’t fit the narrative though does it?

Now do their treatment of women and gays. And the fact having a joint would probably get you life in prison.

In an effort to save money, I say we pay people sentenced to 25 years or more in prison to revoke their citizenship. Then we pay other countries/places like Somalia, Botswana, Greenland, the Middle East, Vanuatu and North Korea to take them in.
