You posting this to brag that you were never caught, les? Clever hoax, but fricked up.

Spoiler alert. Don't waste your time reading it. They never figure out who it is.

I thought this was debunked as a hoax. The family was just trying to get out of the house and used the nondisclosure of the "watcher" as a way to sue. Other residents deny ever being contacted.

The thing about that is there are wayyyyyy simpler and cheaper ways to get out from under a house than this scheme.

Real estate has been absolutely booming since 2014. Just quick flip if you bit off more than you could chew.

The article mentioned they paid thousands and thousands to hire PIs including multiple retired FBI people. How does that fit into the expected return on the scam?

there are easier ways to go about that, and they bought a house in that same neighborhood afterwards which may have been cheaper, but not by much. not to mention all of the money they probably spent on surveillance equipment and private investigators/security contractors. also i thought i read in the article that NJ doesnt have the nondisclosure law? doesnt seem like they would go down that route if they were looking to commit fraud. also seems like they would have jumped at movie or book deals to make some money if they were behind this whole ordeal

its possible they sent the letters themselves, but i have a hard time believing thats the most probable outcome. im going with its probably just some neighbor with a super dark sense of humor who just got off at fricking with people and was initially worried that they would come in and mess with the house that had high status in the neighborhood. and when that person saw that they were the only people to react to one of the letters they sent, remember they sent letters to other people in the neighborhood but these people were on the only ones to really have a reaction to them, they escalated just to continue fricking with them

Mike was schizophrenic. He could have done this and when questioned easily and plausibly denied he did it.

Interesting read. Crazy that they never caught him since it was a small pool of suspects.
