The US, “call out” culture and Covid

The US is currently being absolutely crippled by the fear of social media mobs and “call out” culture as it pertains to Covid. Politicians/businesses/ other entities are terrified of being “called out” for not doing enough to “stop the spread.” Everyone and everything is seemingly in a race to see who can one up the other as far as “protecting our safety” with tougher restrictions regarding the virus. No one wants to be the person or business that “doesn’t take it seriously” and be potentially blamed for people losing their lives. We are in a very bad place and it’s something that of course favors government and big businesses as they can sustain economic losses by shutting down and/or placing harsh restrictions.
