The Uber model is great for large cities, but if I'm landing at Baton Rouge Airport at 1:30PM, what's the chances an Uber car will ever be available? What I'm seeing, hardly ever.

Making assumptions after 11 days. Makes sense.

I think you have that backwards. They will work when people don't need cabs, if they work at all.

I don't think so. You are thinking that all college students can be found in Tigerland every day or something. This will be a second job for a lot of college kids paying their way thru school and they will absolutely do it till 2am if they can get paid for it.

BR Airport will still be YC territory IMO. Uber will be to help our city prevent DWIs

So in 11 days + weeks since they've been recruiting drivers, they've yet to locate dependable reliable drivers in this city that work during daylight or pretty much anytime I check the app.

BR airport is a no pickup zone for Uber. We can't pickup there but we can drop off. Either they have a deal with the cab company or they don't want us taking away from their shuttle service.

Do you honestly think that is why.

Noone in BR needs a cab during the day.

If you do, use yellow cab. It's not hard.

Not all college kids are in tigerland. Especially not every night of the week.

LSU has 25,000 students.

On any given night say approx 6k of those are out...

Because they have a structured pick up system in place. The nazis for hire will ruin the flow of traffic.

The majority of this city doesn't even know what uber is. Expecting them to be running full capacity at 11 days is asinine

People were skeptical at first. Now a lot of drivers are signing up but the process can take a week or so. 2 different background checks and you have to attend a training. You can't sign up overnight.

Gamedays will also be a tough day to get Uber, but I still think some people would do it.

Still, it is better than the alternative of only having yellow cab.

I still think there is a market for yellow cab, but the entire system will be better for the consumer with Uber in BR

No way this could possibly improve as word spreads and thousands upon thousands of students arrive in Baton Rouge in a couple weeks, right?

Sheesh. You really want this to not work, huh?
