Ok. When you call them to order delivery they go off estimate wait time given by cpu. That time is determined on how long it should take to make the pizza, how far from the store you are, and how long it should take a driver. It sees driver out on a run if they are. Well lets just say that the asshat that ordered the pizza before you gave wrong address or apt #. Now that driver will have to take extra time to call you and get correct address. Time est on pizza cpu now wrong from what you was told. Now driver gets correct address and its on the other side of delivery zone. Time est getting more and more off. Driver gets there and cust left because buddy showed up and he left with him. Driver then calls back to see what's up. Time est getting off more and more. Cust who ordered pizza looks at phone knows its not the driver and decides not to answer at all. Est off more and more. Now driver has to go back to shop and get your pizza and deliver it to you. By this time you are pissed and blaming the pizza place saying you took to long and you want free pizza. Was that really the pizza places fault for going to the original address. The wrong address at that. No it wasn't. Is it the drivers fault for trying. No but you get mad at him too. Now if that guy wouldn't caused them so many problems do you think you would have gotten your pizza faster?
Sounds like you guys need an interactive app that uses location services to help the rider locate a close driver and helps drivers locate exactly where the rider wants to be picked up... Oh wait

If finding rides for customers in a timely fashion was such a hard thing to do, how come Uber has figured it out?
Us customers are such assholes obviously, but somehow uber fought through that and made it possible to not wait for an hour for a cab. How about that

A good read
Forbes: Uber Battle of New Orleans Pits Old Guard vs. New
holy shite…you cannot even make this shite up from Nawlins Cab website:
Here are a few tips to increase your odds of catching a cab:
quote:
Cancel your order and rebook it if a driver has not accepted your order within 20 minutes of your specified pick up time. The office may cancel your order automatically for you after 20 minutes, so watch your order. If you see it canceled, then rebook it. This will keep your order fresh. Drivers tend not to want to take an order older than 20 minutes because they believe that the passenger did not wait and caught another cab.
quote:
Be ready to leave when the cab arrives, regardless of how tardy it may be, otherwise it may leave to pick-up another order.
quote:
Give yourself ample time to travel, as the driver must obey all traffic laws and does not want to get a camera ticket because the passenger failed to plan travel time properly. Therefore, this affects your pick-up time. So try to over-calculate your travel time then add 20 minutes to that to figure out what time you should be picked up.
quote:
Consider using our preferential service option if you need to make your cab service even more dependable. You will be charged the regular cab service rates plus a 50% tip for each fare with a minimum of $10 tip. The average fare in the City of New Orleans is $15 because our points of interest are concentrated.
There is a $25 fee to setup preferential service.
quote:
Be sure to wear good walking shoes during parade season, New Years, or another major city event, because you may have to do some walking. You know it is happening when you see the streets packed with people and they are all trying to get a cab. Don't call for a cab then.

Once again, you have no idea what you are talking about. Uber went live in BR at noon on 7/11/14. Do your research.

How have you not just come to the understanding that Uber has a better business model than YC? Cab customers don't care who the fault is on... They care about getting picked up in a timely manner. And if a timely manner is not possible, in a manner that is trackable and understood. If I know I have an hour to wait, I will continue to party for 55 minutes then go outside.
You keep making excuses for YC problems. Uber fixed the problems.

The answer is it doesn't matter who's fault it is. The point is that YC is unreliable.

If one person calling in a ghost cab can wreck your whole process, then your process sucks.

Stop blaming the consumer and maybe you'll survive uber invading your territory. Maybe.

The only time I've left a cabbie hanging is when it takes longer than an hour and I figure something else out.
