Nope. Originally asphalt was used because it was cheaper and can be repaired easier, but doesn’t last near as long. Because of how often it needs to be repaired, it does not make since on interstates

I-10 at the Texas state line was flooding when I drove through on Sunday as Beryl was pushing in. It wasn't even that much rain.

I-20 going through Shreveport right now is friggin terrible. Was towing a boat through there and the lanes skinny down to where a Geo Metro can barely squeeze through. I puckered up going through there and got off the interstate quickly.

That is one thing to remember when you lose an axle in a pot hole that the road was constructed by the lowest bidder.
